Escape Chalet is set up for a working week, not just a weekend. There is 1 GB fibre mesh Wi-Fi on every floor and on the deck, and three separate workcation desks with external monitors: one in the ground-floor queen bedroom, one in the office, and one in the loft. Three people can take calls at the same time in three different rooms without anyone sitting on a bed.

Pick your desk

The queen room desk is the quiet one with a door. The office has the sit-stand desk and its own door onto the deck. The loft has the view and the most interruptions.

Stock the kitchen properly

Eating in is most of the point of a workcation. City Market for the big shop, then Wild Plum for wine and whatever you forgot.

First calls

The pantry already has salt, pepper, oil, spices, sugar, and flour, so dinner is a supermarket run rather than a project.

Take the bus to the mountain

Paved, flat, and 7.5 miles through the middle of town along the river. Easy on the legs if you are still adjusting to the altitude.
