The Local Guide · Steamboat Springs

Steamboat,
like a local.

The same little green book we hand every guest — our favorite tables, the runs and trails worth the drive, and where the dogs are just as welcome as you are. Tap a tab to start.

Eat & Drink

Where we'd send our friends.

From slope-side burgers to a five-course tasting on the Yampa. Prices are a rough guide; 🐾 means your pup is welcome (most patios are seasonal).

Winter Activities

Champagne Powder, and then some.

Walk-to-gondola skiing is the headline, but the supporting cast — sleigh rides, hot springs, dog sledding — is half the reason people come back.

Summer Activities

Trails, rivers, very good days.

Tube the Yampa, hike to a waterfall, drive cattle, or float over the valley in a balloon. Bring the dog on the trails — leashed and ready for zoomies.

With your dog

Steamboat, tail wagging.

This is a dog town, and we lean all the way in. Where to run off-leash, the patios that keep a water bowl by the door, and the number to have saved just in case — all within a few minutes of the chalet.

🚑 Save this

Emergency vet — Pet Kare Clinic

24-hour emergency care with a doctor always on call. 102 Anglers Drive, about 6 minutes from the chalet.

After-hours backup: Steamboat Veterinary Hospital, on-call at (970) 879-1041.

Off-leash areas

Steamboat has five city-designated off-leash spots. Dogs run under voice-and-sight control — leashed in the parking lot and on the approach trail, and always pick up. Open an hour after sunrise to an hour before sunset.

Patios that welcome pups

Plenty of our favorite tables keep the water bowls out back. Flip the 🐾 Dog-friendly only toggle up top and switch to Eat & Drink to see every spot that welcomes your dog.

Back at the chalet

Two dogs stay free when you book direct, and every stay includes the Pup Package: elevated ceramic bowls, an orthopedic bed, treats and toys, dog towels, a grooming kit, a fenced back deck, and this guide. A few house notes keep it perfect for the next pup — see the dog policy.
