Gravel the SBT GRVL Roads

Gravel · 22–111 mi

SBT GRVL's courses are public county roads you can ride any dry day. Green is 25 miles and 31% gravel, Red 53 miles and 52%, Blue 74 miles and 65%, and the Black race 108 miles and 70%, all starting on Yampa Street. Locally, the Emerald Circuit is 27.9 miles, the Airport Plus loop 21.9, Sleeping Giant 41.3 and Strade Sporche 111.5.

Local tip

35mm is the sensible minimum for anything past the Emerald Circuit. 'Impassable when wet' is literal here: Routt County clay packs a frame solid, so ride pavement the morning after rain. These are working ranch roads, so single file past stock, shut every gate you open, and wave at the trucks.

Your base for all of it.

Escape Chalet sits in the mountain district at the base of Mount Werner, a flat ten-minute walk from the gondola, with the free Green Line bus stopping 50 feet from the door.
